On November 11, 2008 the National Japanese American Memorial Foundation and the Japanese American Veterans Association (JAVA) co-sponsored the annual Veterans Day ceremony at the National Japanese American Memorial to Patriotism.
Speakers for the Veterans Day event included:
• Col. Bruce Hollywood, USAF (Ret)
• Robert Nakamoto, Korean War veteran and president of JAVA
• Dr. Craig Uchida, Chairman of NJAMF’s Board of Directors
• Keynote speaker: Brigadier General James L. Huggins, USA
Brigadier General Higgins currently serves as Director, Operations, Readiness and Mobilization Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3/5/7, Washington, DC. The ceremony also included the singing of the national anthem, the presentation of the colors, a wreath laying and the playing of taps.
