Each year, the National Japanese American Memorial Foundation kicks off the Cherry Blossom Festival with a Freedom Walk celebrating the spirit of patriotism of Japanese Americans.
The objective of the Freedom Walk is to educate a new generation of Americans about the Japanese American experience during World War II. The event also aims to highlight the vigilant role all citizens must play in preserving the constitutional rights of all Americans. It's also a wonderful opportunity to see Washington, D.C.'s famous cherry trees in bloom.
The Walk begins and ends at the National Japanese American Memorial located at the corner of Louisiana & New Jersey Avenues NW in Washington, D.C. The Memorial represents not only a remembrance of the past, but hope for the future of our country.
